THIS NATION IS BLEEDING!

Originally posted in 2017 here.

This week didn’t end on a good note. Why? Because on Monday, 29th May, 2017, we lost a brother, friend, husband, father and a fellow citizen. It was a devastating news which hit this country, Ghana. Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama was molested and killed by some thick-skinned people at Obuasi-Denkyira in the Central Region. Their Reason? They thought he was an armed robber. We lost an innocent soul whose crime was only to protect his fellow citizens and protect our natural resources.

Surprisingly, some people want to score political points out of this mishap. Which sensitive person would issue a statement blaming a President for this misfortune? Captain’s family is in grief! Can Johnson Asiedu Nketia and his cohorts take Ghanaians serious for once and give us a break?

We live in a country where politicians have their way all the time.

We live in a country where citizens do not trust the professionalism of the Police.

We live in a country where Judges have taken advantage of the fact that ‘the law is in their bosom‘ and hence, could let hardened criminals lose because their kitchens have been stocked with tubers of yam.

Justice suffers when men refuse to stand firm for what is right. If we don’t fight lawlessness, it prevails. If we don’t establish the truth in our nations, truth becomes foreign in the country. God says there is no man when there is nobody who stands for the truth and righteousness” ― Sunday Adelaja

Maybe we have forgotten the part of Ephraim Amu’s patriotic song, ‘Yen ara asaase ni‘ which says,

Ɔman no, sɛ ɛrenyɛ yie o;

Ɛyɛ nsɛnnahɔ sɛ, Ɔmanfo bra na ɛkyerɛ.

Which means,

Whether or not this nation prospers!

Clearly depends on the character of the citizens of the nation!

LET’S ACT AS CITIZENS AND NOT SPECTATORS!

TO THOSE WHO WANT TO SCORE POLITICAL POINTS OUT OF THIS TRAGEDY, MAY THE GOOD LORD HAVE MERCY ON YOU!

REST IN PEACE CAPTAIN!
